Nintendo Fan is Already in Line for Switch 2 Launch
One eager Nintendo fan is already waiting in line for a Switch 2 months before the console is set to launch. Nintendo finally gave an official release date for its next console in a Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct livestream last week, along with the system’s suggested retail price and some of the games players will have access to when the system hits store shelves on June 5.
Nintendo’s official pre-orders for the Switch 2 will begin later this week on April 9 in most territories aside from the United States, where Nintendo is delaying them to calculate the impact of the tariffs that went into effect late last week. In the meantime, players are debating whether to order their Switch 2 consoles online and have them delivered straight to their homes, or brave the crowds and pick up their systems at a brick-and-mortar store like in the old days. Some may prefer the convenience of the former, while others might enjoy the nostalgia of the latter.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is already being resold at massively inflated prices on retail websites like eBay ahead of its pre-order start date.
One such person is YouTuber ChickenDog, who has streamed himself camping out for past Nintendo releases for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder among others. In one of his latest Twitter posts, ChickenDog revealed that he is already camping out in front of the Nintendo New York store in New York City to wait for the Nintendo Switch 2.
This post was made on April 5, so ChickenDog will be waiting for exactly two months for the release of the Switch 2. In a later update video, he reassured his followers in a later update video that he has AirBnB and a hotel room rented out, as well as some friends in the area who can hold his spot for him when he can’t be there for whatever reason. ChickenDog plans to post videos of himself camping out in line for the Nintendo Switch 2 during the long two-month wait.
Once that wait finally ends, ChickenDog is going to have to pay over $450 for the standard Nintendo Switch 2 console and roughly $500 for the Mario Kart World bundle. That is assuming the aforementioned tariffs don’t lead Nintendo to increase the price of the Switch 2 further in the United States. Whatever might come, the Nintendo Switch 2 is launching worldwide on June 5, and ChickenDog aims to keep his fans posted as he camps out in front of Nintendo New York for that monumental day.
